HGA is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to provide part-time, as-needed engineering and technical support for chemical manufacturing operations and capital improvement projects. This role is well suited for a seasoned chemical engineering professional with extensive experience in process engineering, plant operations, process control, process safety, and project execution.
\n\nThe Project Engineer will support projects from initial evaluation and scope development through engineering review, implementation, commissioning, and startup. The ideal candidate brings strong technical judgment, practical manufacturing experience, and the ability to provide specialized expertise on an intermittent basis as project requirements arise.
\n\nProvide technical engineering support for chemical manufacturing facilities, process improvement initiatives, and capital projects.
\n\t\n\tDevelop and review project scopes, feasibility studies, engineering recommendations, and technical evaluations.
\n\t\n\tSupport process design, process modeling, optimization, and operational efficiency initiatives.
\n\t\n\tEvaluate plant performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, productivity, process safety, and operating costs.
\n\t\n\tProvide technical guidance on process control systems, advanced process control, and real-time optimization applications.
\n\t\n\tParticipate in process safety reviews, including hazard evaluations and review of safety instrumented systems where applicable.
\n\t\n\tReview engineering designs, process modifications, equipment upgrades, piping changes, and control system improvements.
\n\t\n\tAssist with project planning, technical coordination, implementation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
\n\t\n\tCollaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and project teams to resolve technical challenges and implement practical solutions.
\n\t\n\tProvide subject matter expertise and technical recommendations to support project decisions and long-term facility performance.
\n\t\n\tPrepare technical documentation, findings, and recommendations as required by individual assignments.
\n\t\nBachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Refining Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
\n\t\n\tAt least 15 years of progressive experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, plant operations, or capital project engineering.
\n\t\n\tDemonstrated experience supporting industrial process improvement initiatives and engineering projects from evaluation through implementation.
\n\t\n\tStrong understanding of process safety, process control, plant operations, and engineering design principles.
\n\t\n\tExperience evaluating technical issues, developing solutions, and communicating recommendations to cross-functional teams.
\n\t\n\tAbility to work independently, manage assigned deliverables, and provide specialized support with limited day-to-day supervision.
\n\t\n\tStrong analytical, troubleshooting, technical communication, and problem-solving skills.
\n\t\n\tAbility to work remotely and coordinate effectively with project stakeholders.
\n\t\nExtensive experience in ethylene oxide and ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol (EO/EG) manufacturing.
\n\t\n\tExperience with process simulation, process modeling, and advanced process optimization.
\n\t\n\tFamiliarity with AspenTech software and real-time optimization applications.
\n\t\n\tExperience with Honeywell process control systems and Triconex safety systems.
\n\t\n\tBackground in process hazard analysis, LOPA, safety instrumented systems, and process control design.
\n\t\n\tExperience managing or supporting capital projects, equipment modifications, catalyst changes, plant upgrades, and commissioning activities.
\n\t\n\tExperience in technical leadership, engineering standards, operational improvement programs, and manufacturing support across multiple facilities.
